PORTRAITS I MADE IN THE VIRUS: MY ZOOM PALS, Mary T. Bevlock
THIS MUST BE THE PLACE is thrilled to present our new project: PORTRAITS I MADE IN THE VIRUS: MY ZOOM PALS / MARY T. BEVLOCK. From March 2020 to January 2021, artist Mary T. Bevlock invited friends and strangers to join her on Zoom for portrait sessions and conversation, and created their likeness in vivid, expressive drawings in her basement in-home studio. During this time she created over eighty drawings in colored pencil, now chronicled in part in PORTRAITS I MADE IN THE VIRUS: MY ZOOM PALS. The book also includes snippets of conversation with a handful of Mary’s friends – also via Zoom – that articulate reflections on her life, career, and experience during quarantine, as well as an artist manifesto. PORTRAITS I MADE IN THE VIRUS: MY ZOOM PALS is a comprehensive portrait of the artist Mary T. Bevlock and her journey to maintain her artistic inspiration and social connection during the COVID 19 pandemic.
Featuring a full color print gallery of Mary's original artwork, interviews with Katie Scott Newhouse, Tyler Goldman, and Lucinda Warchol, and Mary's personal artist manifesto.
Limited edition hand-bound book, 54 pages, full color
